Since doing a project on brick walls and what people notice and don’t notice I have seen brick walls in many places. Most recently in the credits for Ratatouille and Cars 2

 

Day 41 – Weekly Photo Challenge: The World Through My Eyes

Today I discovered the Daily Post and was inspired by the weekly photo challenge. I decided to take the theme very literally and take a photograph after I had seen the blog post. Looking up from my bed at my curtains.

The way the light shines through the curtain is my favourite part of the images.

Here are some macro shots of a painting I did today, there is a lot of anger and fear that went into the painting but I edited the photographs so that the yellows and blues play an important role in representing life and hope.

I am young enough, and found my photography passion early enough, to remember film photography before digital took over the photography world. I will not argue whether it is better or worse but I will say that I work with digital very differently to film. I was once told that people who work with film take the practice more seriously and take much more care over every image when they are taking it. I will agree that I take more care over the lighting and focus when I’m using film, I don’t want to waste money, however I find that I take much less care over my subject matter. Traditionally the last few photographs taken on a holiday reel for example are usually taken in the airport or at home when the photographer realises that they have a few photographs left. Now I realise how little time I have left to spend in the darkroom I am taking photographs of anything and everything, even people which is highly unlike me. I want to take any photographs and spend time in the darkroom even if the images have no particular purpose.
