Perception

Since doing a project on brick walls and what people notice and don’t notice I have seen brick walls in many places. Most recently in the credits for Ratatouille and Cars 2

Day 32

This ‘Walls of Education’ piece was difficult to create because it is a very early image that I took while I was doing my GCSE’s I know it was a final but I do not remember the project it was a part of. As more of the original image was overtaken by the brick wall the image became about the influence of the different qualifications including the teachers and the other students and how I felt about photography at the time.

Some photographs of the industry on the way to London. I thought they would make a nice contrast to my typical nature photographs.

Contradictions

Here I am on my way to exhibit a project which looks at the disconnectivity of todays youth with the world and I’m sitting on the train listening to music and typing out a blog post… While part of me feels as if I’m betraying my project the other part really likes this song.

Many of the photos I have completed as part of ‘Walls of Education’ have developed different meanings because of being overlayed with brick walls. The photo taken of the wedding for instance now says something about marriage and the repetitive nature of cliches at a wedding party.

Two walls of Education photographs today both from the Body Project I completed last year. The first was a fashion photo shoot of clothes that the fashion students at The University of Portsmouth had designed and the second done as part of my project and used in my magazine article.
